“WHEN I DANCE, I’M NOT SEEKING TO SURPASS ANYONE BUT MYSELF. »

Mikhail Barychnikov

DANCE comes from the Sanskrit TANHA and means joy of living.

It is this natural state which joyfully connects the being to its body and which sometimes sleeps for a long time within us, impatiently waiting for the right moment, the space or the right meeting to dare to express oneself.

An impulse which knows neither age limits nor prejudices and which, once the first step has been taken, cares little about what people say or preconceptions. He needs no other natural aptitude than the desire to get closer to himself and a hint of fun, humor and daring.

COURSE

The dance department offers a range of weekly classes and workshops for children, adolescents and adults, beginners or advanced.

These courses can be taken as part of the main studies or, for people following training in music or theater, as a complementary option, enriching for the development of stage presence and postural well-being.

WORKSHOP

The workshop allows you to put the different technical elements covered during dance classes to the benefit of creativity, interpretation and play. Unlike the course, the workshop is not a succession of exercises, but a space and time entirely devoted to a theme or aspect of dance, as a performing and theatrical art.

ADULT CLASSES - WANT TO DANCE? Want to develop a more intimate and harmonious relationship with your inner being, to listen more sensitively to your body, to discover your personal movement, your creativity, to reconnect with the pleasant feeling of well-being that a lively, alert, supple and toned body provides? You are welcome all year round to attend a course as a spectator, or jump straight into the water .

DANCE SCHEDULE 2024-2025

CLASSIC SECTION

classical and neo-classical dance

In general, by "classical dance", we understand ballet techniques but also those of "neo-classical", which is more a form of stylistic orientation or evolution that occurred in the 1950s than a specific technique in itself .

CONTEMPORARY SECTION

contemporary dance, modern,

jazz and modern jazz

Among the fundamentals of contemporary dance, we will find all the different approaches to classical technique, including improvisation, discovery of the body, but also the main elements of modern techniques.

By "modern dance", we mainly refer to the Graham, Cunningham or Norton techniques.

RENAISSANCE - BAROQUE - VIENNESE STYLE

CHARACTER DANCE - FLAMENCO - TANGO

ANCIENT AND TRADITIONAL DANCE SECTION

Depending on interest and demand, and given the cramped conditions of the current AIDA-LÉMAN premises, we supplement the Dance Department's offerings with courses, workshops or themed seminars on Saturdays. We thus favor the occasional approach of another technique and can also intensify the work of the week, lead courses and seminars in relation to future shows, concerts and events of the academy.
